Denkzeichen für das Jahr 1849 – Commemorative Medal for the Year 1849
Established on 10.6.1849 by the King Maximilian II. Awarded were soldiers, officers and military officials of the army department in the Palatinate who faithfully performed their duty in 1849 during the revolt or uprising. The entrenchment countour on the back is meant to commemorate the defense of the Landau Fortress.
