Established in 1866 by the King Ludwig II, together with the Militär-Verdienstorden (Military Merit Order).Third type, with enameled medallion, awarded 1913-1918.
Version without swords, on the so called peacetime ribbon. This type was awarded also to civilians for the supporting of the army (as well in war-time). Seldom offered cross made original without swords (at most offered ones swords were removed).
Silvered copper, separatly mounted medallions. Very nice condition, enamel on medallion intact, excellent preserved silvering. On original old ribbon.
