Established in 1866 by the King Ludwig II, together with the Militär-Verdienstorden (Military Merit Order). Merit Cross existed initially in two classes, 3rd Class was instituted in 1913.
Construction with separate medaillons, on the sword makers mark D for the manufacturer Deschler und Sohn, Munich.
Coppered metal, very nice condition, on original long ribbon.
