Established in 1866 by the King Ludwig II, together with the Militär-Verdienstorden (Military Merit Order). Merit Cross existed initially in two classes, 3rd Class was instituted in 1913.

Scarce late war manufacturing, one piece zinc cross, swords of iron (magnetic).

Zinc and iron, for a zincer really nice condition, on the original old ribbon.
