Established in 1866 by the King Ludwig II, together with the Militär-Verdienstorden (Military Merit Order). Merit Cross existed initially in two classes, 3rd Class was instituted in 1913.
Construction with separate medaillons, on the sword makers mark W.Co. for the manufacturer Weiss & Co., Munich.
Coppered metal, very nice condition, on original long ribbon.
