Established in 1866 by the King Ludwig II, together with the Militär-Verdienstorden (Military Merit Order). Merit Cross existed initially in two classes, 3rd Class was instituted in 1913.

Coppered bronze, construction with separatly mounted medaillons, nice used condition, with the original old ribbon (26 mm wide).
