Médaille Commémorative 1870–71 / Herinneringsmedaille 1870–71 – 1870–71 Commemorative Medal
Established on 20.09.1911, and was awarded to officers and soldiers of the Belgian army who were mobilized during the period from 15 July 1870 to 5 March 1871 during the Franco-Prussian War (Belgium was not a belligerent in the war but was heavily influenced by the social and political effects of the conflict. An invasion of Belgian territory by either side was widely feared in 1870 and the Belgian Army was mobilised).
Bronze, very nicely preserved, on the old original ribbon.
