Médaille commémorative de la bataille de Verdun – Battle of Verdun Commemorative Medal
Established in November 1916 by the Conseil Municipal de la ville de Verdun (Municipal Council of the city of Verdun) in recognition of the willingness to sacrifice of the French and Allied soldiers who defended the city before the German troops. First model, named by the designer Vernier.
Design: Séraphin Émile Vernier
Manufacturer: Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint), marked at the back with mint mark (cornucopia) and BR for bronze.
Bronze, very nice condition, on the original old ribbon.
