Médaille de Dunkerque – Medal for the Battle of Dunkirk 1940
The decoration was donated by the city of Dunkirk in 1960. First awarded to French soldiers and civilians, then also to participants in the Dunkirk evacuation from other countries, including RAF airmen, sailors from the Royal Navy and Allied merchant marines, as well to civilians leading small ships.
Early original, signed by the Paris art school Ecole des Metiers de l’Art. Paris.
Bronze, in very good condition, on the old original ribbon.
