Item description
Médaille des Blessés Militaires – Military wounded medal
Award for World War I veterans. First unofficial, but often worn by the vets and tolerated by the authorities (officially the soldier was awarded a small red star, which was instituted in 1916 and worn on the ribbon or ribbon bar of the medal for the Great War). The medal was also produced after World War II and officially recognized since 2016.
Scarce early type, star in open wreath.
Gilded metal, star enamelled, very nice preserved, enamel without defects, on the old original ribbon.
