Medal instituted 1929 by Regent Miklos Horthy for the participants in World War I. Due to inscription on the back called also Pro Deo et Patria (For God and Fatherland).

Scarce version without swords and helmet, for non-combatants. Awarded for the care of the wounded and war aid, as well as work in the interests of prisoners of war, orphans and widows.
