Military decoration from World War I period. Established on 24.9.1914 by Grand Duke Friedrich-August. With clasp “Vor dem Feinde”, instituted 1918.

Cross of blackened iron (magnetic), blackening partially missing. On original old ribbon, with bronze clasp. Clasp of early type, with a strap for pulling the band (there were also clasps with prongs, more often encountered).
