Silbernes Verdienstkreuz mit Schwertern – Silver Merit Cross with Swords

The Silver Cross of Merit was established by the King Wilhelm II of Württemberg on 2.7.1900, the swords for war merits were added on 29.1.1915. Awarded mainly to younger officers and NCOs who have already been awarded with the Iron Cross. During the First World War 2284 merit crosses with swords were awarded.
